Inspire Therapy Psychology – Child and Adolescent Services
At Inspire Therapy Psychology, we are committed to protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of every young person and family who engages with our service. This document outlines how we manage the personal and sensitive information shared with us, and the principles that guide our clinical practice.
Confidentiality
At Inspire Clinic, we take your child’s privacy seriously and adhere to strict confidentiality standards. All information shared during the course of psychological work is treated with the utmost care and is kept confidential within the service. Clinical files are stored securely and access is limited to authorized professionals.
Limits of Confidentiality
It is important to be aware that there are legal and ethical limits to confidentiality, which are important to understand:
- In rare circumstances, if there is a concern for a child’s safety or well-being, we may be legally required to share information with appropriate professionals or authorities to ensure a child’s protection and provide necessary support.
Wherever possible, you as parent/guardian will be informed before disclosure — unless doing so increases risk.
Data Protection
Clinical records are kept in line with professional and legal guidelines.
Information is stored in encrypted or securely protected systems and is not shared outside the team unless permission is provided or a safety concern arises/ mandated by law.
Files are retained for a number of years in accordance with regulatory requirements and securely destroyed thereafter.
Client Information Collected During Engagement
In the course of delivering psychological services, we may collect:
Personal Information such as a child or young person’s name, date of birth, parent/guardian contact details, school information, and family background.
Clinical Information including developmental history, presenting concerns, assessment results, session notes, and information shared in consultations.
Administrative Data such as referral forms, consent documentation, appointment records, and communication preferences.
Use of Client Information
We use the information collected to:
Provide assessments, therapeutic support, and psychological consultations.
Monitor progress and tailor recommendations to the individual needs of the child or adolescent.
Communicate with parents/guardians about the young person’s care, with consent.
Share relevant information (e.g. with schools or healthcare providers) when appropriate and only with your explicit consent.
Informed Consent As Requirement
Written consent is required from a parent or legal guardian before beginning any assessment or therapeutic work with a child under 18.
Where a young person turns 18 during their time with the service, their right to confidentiality will be respected, and further communication with parents will occur with their consent and where appropriate.
Client and Families Privacy Rights
Parents, guardians, and young people (when of appropriate age and capacity) have the right to:
Request access to personal and clinical information held by the service.

Raise any concerns about privacy or data handling.
