Jemma

My name is Jemma and I am a speech and language therapist from the UK.  I have 10 years of experience working in the National Health Service (NHS) and private practice in England.

My specialism is working with children aged 3-5 years with language delay or speech sound difficulties. My experience has included social communication difficulties and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I am passionate about working with children who have communication difficulties and believe in building their confidence and finding motivating and creative ways to engage them so that they are able to achieve their maximum potential.  I carry out assessments and intervention with the child at its core and build positive relationships with families, school staff, and other professionals to ensure a collaborative team approach.

Developing and updating my knowledge and skills as a practitioner is important to me, and I welcome opportunities to learn about new research and interventions. Some of the training I have attended includes Makaton, Cued Articulation, Colourful Semantics and the Shape Coding Model.  I have experience in working from the Nuffield Dyspraxia programme, The Social Thinking Curriculum, TEACCH and Attention Autism.

I was awarded a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Speech and Language Therapy in 2010, at City University London. Since I have obtained registrations with the Health and Care Professions Council and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists in the UK

I moved to Dubai in 2018 and I embrace working with families from different cultures and backgrounds.   When I am not working I enjoy going to the gym and socializing with friends.
